Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads of Iran's Zagros Mountains, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian Variant wool used in this product, developed to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, boasts excellent durability and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
These Gabbeh rugs, crafted by Iranian nomads who hand-dye the wool with natural dyes and meticulously weave each strand, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for up to 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are also known for being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And above all, there's their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being an original, one-of-a-kind piece.
They are so artistic that they can be displayed on a wall as art, in addition to being laid on the floor.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can enjoy for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving unevenness, and dyeing unevenness. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dyes may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.
