Senneh, located in northwestern Iran, is the name of a city inhabited by Kurds. Senneh kilims are highly regarded even among Kurdish kilims and are said to excel in weaving techniques and artistic craftsmanship. This skill is believed to be influenced by carpet weaving. Senneh kilims are characterized by small floral patterns and a central medallion. Senneh is now also known as Sanandaj, and a wide variety of flatweave kilims are produced there. The patterns are beautifully unique, as if a flower garden is reflected in a pond.
What is a Kilim?Persian hand-woven kilims are globally popular and are traditional hand-woven textiles that grow richer in character with use. Depending on the era in which they were woven, they are called vintage kilims, old kilims, or antique kilims, and are loved by people of all ages. While most kilims are made of wool, some are also produced using cotton or silk. Natural materials are used. Since natural dyes are used for coloring, you can use them with peace of mind. These hand-woven kilims are sturdily woven and are based on the design styles of tribes and ethnic groups, known as tribal rugs. They feature geometric patterns inspired by nature and animals, and each kilim has a unique design.
Various ethnic groups live across the vast land of Iran. You can enjoy diverse design patterns, as the characteristics of designs and colors vary by region of origin.
Kilims are widely used not only as simple carpets or floor coverings but also as decorative items on walls, sofas, tables, beds, and other interior elements. Their distinctive designs and colors are characteristic, and they are often utilized as room accents. Kilims are not merely decorative items but are positioned as important elements that enrich the overall atmosphere of a room and highlight individuality. They add unique charm and warmth to a room's space. By utilizing kilims, you can achieve an art-filled and comfortable life, and enjoy living surrounded by things you love.
Kilims and Interior DesignKilims offer great flexibility and can be incorporated into various interior styles. In modern interiors, introducing the unique patterns and colors of kilims into a simple space adds an accent to that space. For natural or Nordic interiors, combining them with wooden furniture, plants, or interiors made from natural materials can enhance the warmth and natural atmosphere of the kilim. They also blend well with a bohemian ambiance; laying them on the floor or hanging them on the wall elevates the overall feel of the room. Kilims have an ethnic design and tribal feel, making them a good match for interiors that incorporate cultural elements from Iran, Turkey, and Morocco. Placing them as tapestries or cushions can add warmth and depth to the entire room.
Daily CareRemove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom. If stains are a concern, dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterward, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please NoteDue to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape, weaving, and dyeing. Please enjoy these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
