Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads who inhabit the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are hand-woven using naturally dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in oils to effectively regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, woven by hand with care by Iranian nomads, using natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are renowned for their outstanding durability, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme daily temperature differences, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation.
And above all, there is its artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, original work.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also beautiful enough to be displayed as art on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel or cloth. Afterward, carefully wipe with water to remove any detergent residue, then dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool, which may result in a distinctive odor from the wool dye.
While the odor will gradually dissipate with use, we ask for your understanding in advance.
