Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool with long piles, deeply rooted in their daily life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, made by nomads in Iran who dye this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weave each strand, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, so they don't feel hot.
And above all, there's their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created imaginatively by nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also beautiful enough to be displayed as art on a wall.
Why not find a Gabbeh that you can use forever, a special Gabbeh that is uniquely yours?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung-out towel. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dye used to color the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
