Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai nomads who live in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool as part of their daily life. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of oil to regulate body temperature, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, made by Iranian nomads who hand-weave each strand of this natural-dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, demonstrating its superior durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is its artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug that you can use for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Precautions
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dye used for the wool may occur.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.
