Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads, who hand-weave them in the Zagros Mountains of Iran using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant feel due to its high fat content, which helps regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made by carefully hand-weaving this wool dyed with natural dyes, one by one, by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, showcasing its exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is its artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris by vacuuming or sweeping along the nap of the rug.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung-out towel or similar. Afterward, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, then air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
As these are hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and variations in dye. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dye used on the wool may occur.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
