Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and is rich in natural oils, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture that helps regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads, thread by thread, using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and delightful feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are renowned for their durability, said to last 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being an original, unique item.
They are not only suitable for laying on the floor but can also be displayed as art on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and air dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool, which may result in a distinctive odor from the dyes used to color the wool.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed upon request
The pom-poms located at the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipping.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
