Features of Persian hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content to effectively regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh, made by hand-weaving this wool with natural dyes by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Gabbeh, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are also characterized by being warm in winter and airy and not feeling hot in summer.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, original piece.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but also displayed as art on walls.
Why not find a special Gabbeh that is uniquely yours and can be used for a long time?
Daily care
Remove dust and dirt with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
If dirt is a concern: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
