Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads, who hand-weave them from vegetable-dyed wool in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, essential for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, which contains a lot of oil to effectively regulate body temperature.

These wools are dyed with natural dyes, and each Gabbeh is meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, resulting in a plush and comfortable feel.

A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, demonstrating its superior durability.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile direction.

For persistent stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung-out towel or similar. Afterward, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Please Note

Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.

Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dye used to color the wool may be present.

The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.

Pom-poms can also be removed before shipping.

The pom-poms attached to the corners and middle of the Gabbeh can be removed and delivered to you if requested.

Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
