Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian Variat wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture is due to its high fat content, which helps regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven by Iranian nomads thread by thread after dyeing the wool with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Gabbeh rugs, born from the harsh climate with extreme day-night temperature differences, are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, so they don't feel hot. And above all, there's their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being an original, one-of-a-kind item. They can be placed on the floor or even hung on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the pile direction. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing unevenness. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the wool dye may occur. The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pompoms can also be removed before shipping

The pompoms at the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery. Removing the pompoms does not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you wish to have the pompoms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
