Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads who hand-weave them in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture due to its high lanolin content, which helps with body temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven knot by knot by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation.
And above all, there is their artistry. The Gabbeh created by the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with no two being exactly alike, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art.
Why not find a special Gabbeh that is uniquely yours and can be cherished for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Consequently, there may be a unique odor from the wool dye.
The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
