Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs made from plant-dyed wool, hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven thread by thread by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs that are tightly woven are said to last 100 years, boasting superior durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And, above all, their artistic quality. The Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original item.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
If dirt is a concern: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
