"Luri" means "fine" and "baft" means "weave" in Persian.

Characteristics of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made from vegetable-dyed wool by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content for effective thermoregulation.
Gabbeh, made by meticulously hand-weaving this wool, dyed with natural dyes, by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting outstanding durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing heat buildup.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also artistic enough to be displayed on walls.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
This scent will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
