Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool to create long-pile rugs deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh rugs, made by hand-dyeing this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weaving each strand by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, making them feel cool.
And, above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed as art on a wall.
Why not find a special Gabbeh rug that is uniquely yours and that you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
If stains are a concern: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dyes may occur.
This scent will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed before shipping

Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
