Characteristics of Persian Hand-Knotted Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile carpets deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, hand-knotted using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability for survival in the harsh Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture containing abundant oils to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh rugs, made by Iranian nomads who carefully hand-knot each strand of this natural-dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for up to 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, one-of-a-kind piece with no two being alike.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-knotted, there may be irregularities in shape or pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-knotted item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool, which may result in a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of it beforehand.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping

The pom-poms attached to the corners and middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the pom-poms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via the email or phone number below.
