Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, nomadic people in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, essential for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, which contains a high fat content for effective body temperature regulation.
Gabbeh rugs, made by nomadic Iranians who carefully hand-weave each strand of this natural-dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, created in a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are also known for being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed as art on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterwards, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As such, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed before shipping

The pompoms located at the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pompoms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
