Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool with a long pile that is deeply rooted in their way of life. The Persian variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, which contains a lot of oil to effectively regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but they are also artistic enough to be displayed on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can enjoy for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As a result, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used to color the wool.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Tassels can be removed upon request

The tassels attached to the corners and middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before shipping if you request it.
Removing the tassels does not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the tassels removed before shipment, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
