Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs

Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using plant-dyed wool. These are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in their daily lives. The wool used in this product, known as Persian Variant, is derived from sheep that thrive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains. This wool possesses excellent durability for survival and contains a high amount of lanolin, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, and adept at regulating body temperature. Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile. If dirt is a concern: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove any detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortions, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dye may be present. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.

Pompoms can be removed upon request
