Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool as an integral part of their daily life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and for its soft, pleasant feel due to the abundant natural oils that help regulate body temperature.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes, and each Gabbeh rug is meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, resulting in a fluffy and comfortable texture.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, boasting superior durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are also characterized by their warmth in winter and their breathability in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And of course, there's its artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, original item.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, sweeping in the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and uneven dyeing. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.
Pompoms can be removed before shipping.
The pompoms on the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pompoms will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the pompoms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
