Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads who hand-weave them in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft and pleasant texture, containing a lot of oil, helps with temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven carefully one by one by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable they are said to last 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and not feeling hot in summer.
And above all, there is their artistry. The Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, and each one is a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
If you are concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, dyeing irregularities, etc. Please be aware that these are all part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool.
The odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
