Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool with a long pile that is deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with high oil content to regulate body temperature.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven thread by thread by Iranian nomads using natural dyes on this wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, demonstrating its exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering comfort even in hot weather.
And above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbeh rugs created by the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, one that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dust and dirt with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with water to remove detergent residue, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As a result, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping
The pom-poms on the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you would like your Gabbeh shipped without pom-poms, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
