The turquoise used in this accessory is called Shajar, and it has a natural matrix pattern with mixed turquoise and stone. Shajar means "tree with branches" in Persian, and the branch-like texture of the stone enhances the blue of the turquoise.

This is a one-of-a-kind original design by the famous Iranian engraver, Mr. Javaheri. Mr. Leather Javaheri was an engraver who worked as one of the royal family's jewelers during the reign of the Pahlavi king, and while lecturing at the Tehran University of Art, he produced our jewelry from 1990 to 2007. The delicate designs, tailored to the unique characteristics of each turquoise, further enhance the beauty of the turquoise. The back of the turquoise is individually engraved with gold, matching the shape of the stone.

Characteristics of Persian Natural Firoozeh (Turquoise) Jewelry

This stone, originally mined in ancient Persia (Iran), reached Europe via Turkey, which is how the word "Turkish" became the origin of its name. Persian turquoise is of the highest quality, with a vivid, deep sky blue color often referred to as "the color of a spring sky," and it is very hard. In fact, it was the first stone used by humankind as a protective amulet.

In Persia, it was cherished as the stone of the royal family for many years, and this Persian blue was also highly valued during the Victorian era.
Besides Iran, the best quality producing region, turquoise of varying quality is also found in Australia, America, China, Egypt, and other places. Many turquoise stones from Arizona, USA, are brought into Japan, but Persian "Firoozeh (turquoise)" is rarely introduced because its production has drastically decreased in recent years, making it very valuable.
