The turquoise used in this accessory is called Shajar, which means "tree with branches" in Persian. It has a natural matrix pattern where the turquoise and other stones are mixed, creating a branch-like texture that enhances the blue of the turquoise.

This is an original design created exclusively for our store by Mr. Javaheri, a renowned Iranian engraver. Mr. Leather Javaheri was an engraver who worked as one of the royal family's jewelers during the Pahlavi dynasty. While lecturing at the Tehran University of Art, he crafted jewelry for our store from 1990 to 2007. His delicate designs, tailored to the unique characteristics of each turquoise stone, further enhance its appeal. The reverse side of each turquoise stone is individually engraved in gold to match the stone's shape.

Characteristics of Persian Natural Firuze (Turquoise) Jewelry

This stone, mined in ancient Persia (Iran), reached Europe via Turkey, which is how it acquired its name. Persian turquoise is of the highest quality, with a vivid, deep sky blue color often described as "the color of a spring sky," and possesses high hardness. In fact, it was the first stone used by humankind as a protective amulet.

In Persia, it has long been cherished as a stone for the royal family, and this Persian blue was also highly valued during the Victorian era.
Besides Iran, the best quality source, turquoise of varying quality is also found in Australia, America, China, Egypt, and other places. While much American Arizona turquoise is brought into Japan, this Persian "firuze (turquoise)" is rarely introduced due to its significantly reduced output in recent years, making it precious.
