Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool to create long-pile rugs deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is soft and pleasant to the touch, containing a lot of oil for excellent durability and thermoregulation, essential for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains.
The Gabbeh rugs, woven by hand, thread by thread, by Iranian nomads from this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their soft and fluffy texture.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting excellent durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing a cool feeling.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dye may be present.
This odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
