Features of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomadic tribe, who hand-weave them in the Zagros Mountains of Iran using naturally dyed sheep wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant-to-the-touch texture contains a lot of oil to effectively regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously handwoven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable they are said to last 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing the feeling of heat.
And above all, there is their artistry. The Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, and each one is a unique, original piece with no two alike.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed as art on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
As these are handwoven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of handweaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed upon shipment
The pom-poms on the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
