Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs

Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads living in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. These rugs are made from vegetable-dyed wool with a long pile, deeply rooted in their daily life. The Persian Varianti wool used in this product has excellent durability, developed to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes, and Gabbeh rugs woven meticulously by hand, strand by strand, by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last 100 years, boasting superior durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are also warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And, of course, there's their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imagination often feature animal and plant designs, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pom-poms can also be removed before shipping.

The pom-poms on the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipping.
Removing the pom-poms does not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
