Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high fat content to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbehs, hand-woven by Iranian nomads, knot by knot, using this natural-dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbehs are so durable they are said to last 100 years.
Originating from a climate with large temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs are also known for being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And, above all, their artistic quality. Gabbehs created by the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
How about finding your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel. Afterward, carefully wipe with water to remove any detergent residue, then air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, and variations in weaving and dyeing. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Also, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can also be removed before shipping.
The pompoms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pompoms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish for the pompoms to be removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
