Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains, hand-weaving them from vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft texture, rich in natural oils, allows for effective temperature regulation. Gabbeh rugs, made by nomadic Iranians meticulously hand-weaving each strand of this natural-dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Gabbehs, born from a climate with extreme daily temperature differences, are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat. And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbehs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be used not only on the floor but also displayed on walls as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the nap. For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, as well as variations in weaving and dyeing. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present. Please note that the odor will gradually dissipate with use.
Pompoms can be removed before shipping
The pompoms located on the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery. Removing the pompoms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you wish for the pompoms to be removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
