Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads who hand-weave them in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing it to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high fat content for excellent body temperature regulation, resulting in soft and pleasant-feeling wool.
Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven by Iranian nomads one strand at a time using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting outstanding durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy, preventing heat in summer.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important Notes

As these are hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, dyeing inconsistencies, etc. Please be aware that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the dyes used to color the wool may occur.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pom-poms can be removed before shipping.

If requested, we can ship Gabbeh rugs with the pom-poms on the corners or in the middle removed.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
