Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads who hand-weave them in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and is soft to the touch with high lanolin content for effective temperature regulation.
Gabbeh are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture, hand-woven meticulously one strand at a time by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the unique characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
If you notice stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Points to Note

Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dyes used on the wool.
This smell will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pom-poms can also be removed before shipping

The pom-poms located on the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
