Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled rugs woven by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool as a part of their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and has soft, pleasant-feeling fibers containing a lot of oil for good thermoregulation. The Gabbeh, woven meticulously by hand by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes, is characterized by its plush and comfortable feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, demonstrating its superior durability. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing them from feeling hot. And above all, there is its artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be laid on the floor or even displayed as art on walls. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile. If it is particularly dirty: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry it in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present. Please be aware that this odor will gradually dissipate with use.
Pompoms can be removed before shipping
