Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai nomads of Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture due to its high lanolin content, which helps regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting superior durability.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the unique characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And, above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, and each piece is a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the pile direction.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a cloth or towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shade.

Important Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Consequently, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pompoms can be removed for shipping

The pompoms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
