Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant-to-the-touch texture contains a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
Gabbehs are made by Iranian nomads who carefully hand-weave each strand of this wool, dyed with natural dyes, resulting in a plush and pleasant texture. Well-woven Gabbehs are so durable that they are said to last 100 years.
Originating from a climate with drastic temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing heat. And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbehs created from the nomads' imaginations often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art.
Why not find a special Gabbeh that you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile. For気になる汚れ: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterwards, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items. Additionally, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool, which may result in a distinctive odor from the dyes used. The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping.

If requested, the pom-poms located at the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery. Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you wish to have the pom-poms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us by email or phone below.
