Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who herd in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. They are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product comes from sheep that thrive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, possessing excellent durability for survival and soft, pleasant-to-the-touch fibers rich in lanolin for effective thermoregulation.
Dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, Gabbeh rugs are characterized by their soft and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for up to 100 years.
Originating from a climate with significant temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but also displayed as art on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove detergent and dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Tassels can be removed before shipping

Removing the tassels does not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
