Characteristics of Hand-Woven Persian Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are long-pile rugs made from vegetable-dyed wool, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and is rich in natural oils, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, effectively regulating body temperature.
Gabbehs, woven by Iranian nomads, thread by thread, from this natural-dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbehs are so durable that they are said to last 100 years.
Gabbehs, created in a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing them from feeling hot.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbehs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Notes
Due to the handmade nature, there may be variations in shape, pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinct odor from the dyes used to color the wool.
The odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed upon request

The pompoms on the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipping.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you would like the pompoms removed, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
