Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Varianti wool used in this product has excellent durability, developed to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and is soft and pleasant to the touch, containing a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively. Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven one thread at a time by Iranian nomads using natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years. Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool feel. And, above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, making each one a unique, original piece. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art. Why not find a special Gabbeh that will last you a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye unevenness. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven items. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present. This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping.

The pom-poms attached to the corners and middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery. Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you wish to have the pom-poms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
