Characteristics of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile carpets woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. They are deeply rooted in daily life. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product comes from sheep that live in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, providing excellent durability for survival and a soft, pleasant texture with high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously one by one by Iranian nomads using this natural-dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbehs are said to last for 100 years, boasting superior durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And, above all, their artistry. Gabbehs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed as art on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove any detergent residue, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed upon shipment.

The pom-poms on the corners and sides of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you would like the pom-poms to be removed before shipment, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
