Characteristics of Persian Hand-knotted Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, hand-knotted by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of fat to regulate body temperature effectively, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture. Gabbeh rugs, hand-knotted meticulously one by one by Iranian nomads using natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years. Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing a feeling of heat. And then there's their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, with each one being a unique, original piece. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung out towel or similar. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
As these are hand-knotted, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-knotted product. Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dye used for the wool may be present. The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping

The pom-poms on the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment. Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
