Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically live in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are deeply rooted in their daily lives, made from plant-dyed wool with a long pile. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of lanolin for effective thermoregulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are renowned for their exceptional durability, said to last for 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel thoroughly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove any detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As a result, there may be a unique scent from the dyes used on the wool.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
