Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and is rich in oil, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture that helps regulate body temperature.
Gabbehs, hand-woven piece by piece by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, demonstrating its exceptional durability.
Gabbehs, born from the extreme temperature differences between day and night, also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbehs created from the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art.
How about finding your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing unevenness. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may occur.
This scent will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
