Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and is soft and pleasant to the touch, containing a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh rugs, woven by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes, are soft and comfortable to the touch. Each strand is carefully hand-woven.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting excellent durability.
Born from a climate with drastic temperature changes between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering comfort even in hot weather.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive smell from the dyes used to color the wool.
The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
