Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are long-pile rugs made from vegetable-dyed wool, deeply rooted in their way of life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture due to its high oil content, which helps regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture, hand-woven with great care, thread by thread, by Iranian nomads, using wool dyed with natural dyes.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, created in a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, making them comfortable even in hot weather.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imagined and created by nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may occur.
This scent will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
