Characteristics of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are handwoven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool with a long pile, deeply rooted in their daily life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft texture contains a lot of oil for efficient body temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh, handwoven strand by strand by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, is characterized by its fluffy and pleasant texture.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from the climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with no two being exactly alike, each a unique, original piece.
You can, of course, place them on the floor, but they can also be displayed as art on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile direction.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being handwoven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of handweaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may occur.
This odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
