Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs, hand-woven by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed sheep's wool, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and is rich in lanolin for effective thermoregulation, resulting in soft and pleasant-feeling fibers.
Gabbeh rugs, made by nomadic Iranians meticulously hand-weaving each strand of this natural-dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there's its artistic quality. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
