Characteristics of Persian Hand-Knotted Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-piled rugs, deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai tribe, nomadic people who hand-knot them from vegetable-dyed wool in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, along with a soft, pleasant texture rich in natural oils, which helps regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made by nomads in Iran who hand-dye this wool with natural dyes and meticulously weave each strand, are characterized by their plush and delightful feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are renowned for their exceptional durability, often said to last 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are also characterized by being warm in winter and breathable, providing a cool sensation in summer.
And, above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They are not only perfect for laying on the floor but also beautiful enough to be displayed as art on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug, a piece that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the nap of the rug.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel or similar cloth. Afterward, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, then air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-knotted, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-knotted item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Consequently, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool.
While the odor will gradually dissipate with use, we ask for your understanding in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed upon request for shipping

The pom-poms attached to the corners or middle of Gabbeh rugs can be removed and shipped without them, if requested.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh rug.
