Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads, who hand-weave them from vegetable-dyed wool in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The wool used in this product, known as Persian Valiant wool, possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content, allowing for effective temperature regulation.
Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by hand, strand by strand, by Iranian nomads from this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and delightful feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are incredibly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme daily temperature fluctuations, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation.
And above all, there's their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being a unique, original item. They are so artistic that they can be displayed on a wall as much as on the floor.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As such, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping.

The pom-poms located at the corners and along the edges of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you would like the pom-poms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
