Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs deeply rooted in daily life, made by the Qashqai nomads who wander the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature, resulting in a soft and comfortable texture.
Gabbehs woven by Iranian nomads, meticulously hand-tying each strand of this plant-dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbehs are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years.
Gabbehs, created in a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, making them feel cool.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbehs created from the nomads' imaginations often feature designs of animals and plants, with no two being alike; each is an original, one-of-a-kind piece.
They are not only suitable for laying on the floor but can also be displayed as art on a wall.
Why not find a special Gabbeh that is uniquely yours and can be cherished for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
