Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs, rooted in the daily lives of the Qashqai nomads who hand-weave them in the Zagros Mountains of Iran using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, as well as a soft and pleasant texture rich in oils that help with temperature regulation. Hand-woven by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, using wool dyed with natural dyes, Gabbehs are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting superior durability. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a sensation of coolness. And, above all, there is their artistry. Gabbehs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterward, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving. Additionally, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. As a result, there may be a unique smell from the dye used on the wool. The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pompoms can be removed upon request

The pompoms attached to the corners and middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipping. Removing the pompoms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you wish to have the pompoms removed before shipment, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
