Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool as an integral part of their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product comes from sheep living in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, giving it excellent durability and a soft, pleasant feel with high oil content to help regulate body temperature.
These Gabbehs, made from wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbehs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with drastic temperature changes between day and night, Gabbehs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbehs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterwards, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
As these are hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Additionally, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. As a result, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
