Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool and deeply rooted in their daily life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and is soft and pleasant to the touch due to its high oil content, which helps regulate body temperature. Gabbehs are hand-woven by Iranian nomads, thread by thread, using this wool dyed with natural dyes, resulting in a distinctively plush and pleasant texture. Well-woven Gabbehs are so durable that they are said to last 100 years. Gabbehs, created in a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And then there's its artistry. Gabbehs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving. Also, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present. The odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pompoms can be removed upon request
